Crowdfunding

The practice of crowdfunding involves funding a project from a large number of individuals. Projects tend to be funded and advertised through the internet. The process works through a process involving three parties: project developer who develops the idea for funding, platform enabling project developers and individual donors to connect and individual donors who financially support the project. Kiva Zip
A pilot program developed by Kiva, a micro-lending entity and website. Kiva Zip enables anyone with an internet connection to both provide funding for startup businesses and solicit funding for products or services. Loans are offered with 0% interest fees. The City of Oakland is currently a Kiva Zip trustee and is dedicated to provide the platform for local small buisnesses to access capital at no cost.
