The eastbayeda.org website became operational on July 1, 2007, after the organization changed its name from Economic Development Alliance for Business (EDAB) to the East Bay Economic Development Alliance.

The previous website's data, which transitioned from a BBS into one of the earliest, economic development Internet website (edab.org) is placed at the bottom of this page for reference.

Even with only 9 months of activity in this fiscal year, most of the data has more than doubled from the initial year of the new url (www.eastbayeda.org).  But one of the most important data is the length of visit, which averaged 2-3 minutes for the edab.org website (partly as a result of being hit by all the search engines) to 17 minutes last FY and 18 minutes, 44 seconds this FY, meaning the visitor is spending much more time reviewing content.

The Economic Development Advisory Board (established by Alameda County and the Mayors Council of the 14 cities within the County in 1991) first utilized a Bulletin Board Site (BBS) to communicate information to its members and the public and in 1995 established its first website on the fledgling Internet. 

With the name change to Economic Development Alliance for Business in 1996 the website began a series of evolutions, with major changes in 2000, followed by a complete redesign in January 2002.  Annual edab.org website statistics are reported below for five fiscal years, from July 1 2002 through June 30, 2007.

As a result, edab.org was very well established with the search engines, but it had also grown in size and complexity so that it took a number of steps to get to a desired location/find information (which also contributed to the number of hits (links in the East Bay). 

So with the name change to East Bay Economic Development Alliance, the website's navigation system was completely re-designed to accommodate the four primary user groups (researchers, businesses, local residents and East Bay EDA members. Unfortunately, switching the URL from edab.org (which is now used as a referral) to eastbayeda.org lost visibility, preference and thus activity via the search engines.
