East Bay Economic Development Alliance (East Bay EDA) is excited to announce the receipt of a grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA) Economic Adjustment Assistance (EAA) Program for a project known as Resilient East Bay to support small to mid-sized businesses in manufacturing, transportation, distribution & logistics, and biomedical/life sciences.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused major disruptions to the East Bay’s economy, yet manufacturing has emerged as a strong and resilient sector that will be key to the region’s recovery. Since 2013, manufacturing employment in Alameda and Contra Costa Counties has increased 27 percent, from 78,104 jobs in 2013 to just under 100,000 at 99,472 jobs in 2021. These manufacturing jobs are critical to the regional economy as each one produces an additional 5-7 jobs in the regional economy. This growth in manufacturing in the East Bay has been supported by dedicated efforts in the region from the private and public sectors.
The Resilient East Bay project will lead and implement a regional, sector-based economic analysis and strategy for the manufacturing, transportation, distribution & logistics, and biomedical/life sciences industries.
