    The Startup World Cup - East Bay Regional competition returns to Cal State East Bay on September 10, 2026. Last year, Coreshell Technologies in San Leandro was named Grand Finale Winner of the 2025 Startup World Cup, bringing excitement to this annual competition. Startup World Cup is hosted by Pegasus Tech Ventures. It is a global conference and competition that brings together the top startups, VCs, entrepreneurs, and world-class tech CEOs. Each regional winner will compete in the Grand Finale for a $1 Million Investment Prize on October 17, 2025, at the Hilton Union Square, San Francisco. The EDD Council leads strategies that link, align, and leverage best practices for regional marketing, policy reforms, economic analysis, and professional development resources to improve the region’s business climate and expand economic opportunities throughout the East Bay. The EDD Council membership includes East Bay EDA member cities, counties, and unincorporated areas, as well as lead staff from our local Workforce Development Boards and Small Business Development Centers.

    Save the date to join East Bay EDA for a free harbor tour of the Port of Oakland on Friday, October 16 from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM. We are excited to invite our members and partners for the "last cruise" of the harbor tour season on the iconic Red and White ferry boat. The tour will last approximately 90 minutes. Visitors will learn about the Port, its operations, and the economic and jobs impact on the region. Harbor tours provide a unique vantage point because the Port’s marine terminals can be viewed from the water. The excursions are a great way to see how the Oakland Seaport works.     Martinez Refining Company 3485 Pacheco Blvd, Martinez, United States

    Save the date to join East Bay EDA on Friday, November 6 for a tour of Martinez Refining Company (MRC) in Contra Costa County. MRC produces some of the cleanest motor fuels in the world, supplying the Bay Area with affordable and reliable gasoline, diesel, and jet fuel. The refinery spans 860 acres, includes 35 process units, and employs 585 full-time staff and 300 embedded contractors. During major maintenance periods, more than 1,000 Building Trades craftworkers are also added to the workforce. Check back soon for registration details.
