    Join East Bay EDA for a VIP pitch-side mixer at the Oakland Roots' June 17th match — a gathering of Australian and Bay Area business leaders and City Officials, united by the belief that relationships born through the power of sport carry a strength and permanence that extend far beyond the final whistle. This summer, the Oakland Roots are proud to host the Australian National Team - called the Socceroos - at their training facility as they prepare to compete on the world stage. The Oakland Roots are hosting this Australia-themed gameday event on June 17th in their honor. The program will open at 11:00 AM with coffee and pastries on the sideline and will feature brief remarks from: a senior leader from the Australian Consulate, the President of the Australian Chamber of Commerce, a senior leader from the Socceroos, a senior leader from the Oakland Roots, and other VIP guests. Following the welcome program, guests are invited to mix and mingle on the sidelines — before kickoff and throughout the match. Our Board of Directors guides and informs organizational activities and events for the East Bay Economic Alliance Foundation (East Bay EDA’s nonprofit arm) and is composed of senior-level leaders from East Bay EDA’s robust cross-sector membership, including business, economic development, education, elected officials, labor, local government representatives, nonprofit organizations, philanthropy, and research institutions.

    The Startup World Cup - East Bay Regional competition returns to Cal State East Bay on September 10, 2026. Last year, Coreshell Technologies in San Leandro was named Grand Finale Winner of the 2025 Startup World Cup, bringing excitement to this annual competition. Startup World Cup is hosted by Pegasus Tech Ventures. It is a global conference and competition that brings together the top startups, VCs, entrepreneurs, and world-class tech CEOs. Each regional winner will compete in the Grand Finale for a $1 Million Investment Prize on October 17, 2025, at the Hilton Union Square, San Francisco.
